Well, what do they think people are going to do when they can’t buy food for themselves and pay the mortage?
The supporters of the horse slaughter bill have no comprehension of what thousands of horses running around could be like. Dogs and cats can travel unhindered by most fences to reach food and water. Horses can not!
We had just such a situation here in the rural midwest within the last two weeks. Two horses were found on a state highway. Local officers ran them off the road into an unfenced cornfield. The horses were there for over 48 hours. No one knew who they belonged to and the “Laws” are such that you could not legally go catch them on private property unless you were the legal owner.
After attempting to contact my state reps, the only response was from the Humane Society. Does that give you an idea of why we are fighting our own government? The animal rights people have tossed around enough money to get the governments attention when they wanted it.
